| Tabnabbing: A New Type of Phishing Attack | June 2, 2010 |
![]() | A new type of phishing attack has been developed to lure a user into thinking they are on a commonly visited website, while they are in fact on a different site. This particular attack works by changing a tab withing your web browser that you are no longer on while you are not looking, in many cases changing the unused tab to a login look-alike for popular websites such as GMail, Facebook, or banking websites. We are hoping that the various companies developing web browsers come out with new versions to prevent this deception, but strongly urge users to be wary of this attack. If in doubt, your best course of action is to close out of the tab in question and type in the website address you wish to go to manually. |
