  • My notebook display is red and then goes dim
    Display issues are 1 or more of 3 things.

    1. The power inverter is bad -
    2. The LCD panel is bad-
    3. The video adapter is bad-

    You most likely are looking at the second option, and have a bad LCD panel, and it needs to be replaced. This is generally worth the repair to keep the unit portable. If it might be time to consider purchasing a new unit, the old unit can generally still be used as a stationary work-station in conjunction with an external vga monitor (any standard computer monitor).
